Phone Tracker Installation User Guide

3SI Phone Tracker™ Information

The Phone Tracker is a GPS-based tracking system protecting stores during a burglary or robbery by helping law enforcement track and apprehend criminals, recover stolen store inventory, and deter future crime.

At no time should the plastic outer wrap (Phone Tracker Models 12 and earlier) or the tamper-proof seals (Phone Tracker Model 13, 14, and 15) be removed from the Phone Tracker. There will be a charge incurred if the Tracker needs to be returned to 3SI to be re-packaged.

Phone Tracker™ Installation Guide

Loss Prevention has ordered a 3SI Phone Tracker device for your store. Here are tips for a successful installation:

  • Read through all the instructions before beginning.
  • Perform the install when the store is closed to avoid interruption.

STEP 1

Carefully remove the rubber bands from around the Tracker and transport plate. Remove the Tracker from the yellow transport plate, keeping them separated.

STEP 2

Activate the Tracker by keeping it in motion for at least one minute. Activation near a window may accelerate the install.

STEP 3

NEW PROCESS FOR PHONE TRACKER 15: Once the device has activated, the device will chirp three consecutive times to indicate the device has been installed to the location.

Furthermore, you might hear a second set of chirps indicating that the Safezone has been set up, although this may not always happen. However, the absence of these chirps does not imply that the Safezone was not enabled.

STEP 4

Take the Tracker to where it will be deployed, and place the Tracker with the Ready Stock.

Returning an Old Tracker

Phone Tracker 14 and prior If the Tracker installed is replacing a Phone Tracker 14 and prior, please follow the instructions below.
  • The Specialist will need the Serial Number from the label on the bottom of the old Tracker to deactivate it. This is very important to ensure police are not alerted when the Tracker is shipped.
  • Return the old Tracker to 3SI immediately to avoid incurring any future fees.
  • If possible, please also include the Yellow Transport Plate that would have arrived with the Phone Tracker 15. Otherwise, please discard the yellow transport plate
  • Apply the included pre-paid shipping label to the box and return via FedEx.
Phone Tracker 15 and beyond
  • If a Phone Tracker must be returned, please call the Retail Support team (844-474-0374) to disarm the device before shipment.

Charging 3SI Phone Tracker™
DO NOT remove the plastic outer wrap or the tamper-proof seals! There will be a charge incurred if the Tracker needs to be returned to 3SI to be re-packaged. To charge Phone Tracker 12 and higher:
  1. Locate the Phone Tracker and take it to an area for charging.
  2. Assemble the charging pad, cable and power supply and plug into a wall outlet. A light on the pad indicates power is being supplied to the pad.
  3. Align the top phone label on the back of the Tracker with the center of the inductive charging pad.
  4. Slowly slide the Tracker on the pad until you hear three chirps to indicate that it is correctly aligned on the pad. If you do not receive the three chirps or if the Tracker continues to chirp, gently slide Phone Tracker around on the charging pad to realign until you receive the chirps.
  5. Charge Tracker for at least 2 hours.
  6. After charging, place Phone Tracker back to where it was installed so it is in place if a crime occurs.
NOTE: Do not leave Phone Tracker on the charger overnight because it will not be with other inventory and ready to track criminals if a crime occurs at your store. NOTE: These instructions apply to Phone Tracker 12 Models & up ONLY. For other models, please refer to the user guide originally supplied with the device. Normal Operating Procedures
  • DO NOT remove the plastic outer wrap or the tamperproof seals. There will be a charge incurred if the Tracker needs to be returned to 3SI to be re-wrapped.
  • Always keep Phone Tracker where you have similar smartphone inventory in your store.
  • Phone Tracker is fully automatic and activates after leaving its Safezone and sensing ten (10) seconds of continuous motion. Once activated, it automatically and silently alerts 3SI and your loss prevention department.
  • A Phone tracker should not trigger within a Safezone, however, if for any reason it accidentally activates, leave it stationary for 3 minutes to reset.
Phone Tracker DOs and DON’Ts
  • DO include Phone Tracker with other store inventory taken during a crime.
  • DO charge Phone Tracker monthly using the inductive charging pad.
  • DON’T discuss your store’s security practices with anyone outside of work.
  • DON’T remove the plastic outer wrap or the tamper-proof seals from Phone Tracker.
